All A's Flashcards
Cerebrum
Manges muscle function and regulates temperature.
Temporal
managing your emotions, many senses
Lateral ventricle
the production of the cerebrospinal fluid
Optic chiasma
information from the right visual field (which comes from both eyes) is sent to the left side of the brain, and information from the left visual field is sent to the right side of the brain
the part of the brain where the optic nerves cross and is therefore of primary importance to the visual pathway
Thalamus
your body’s information relay station. All information from your body’s senses (except smell) must be processed through your thalamus before being sent to your brain’s cerebral cortex for interpretation.
Grey matter
is essential for controlling movement, memory and emotions.
Gyrus
increases the brain’s surface area allowing more neurons to fit inside the skull and enabling higher functions
Pons
Your pons is a part of your brainstem, . It handles unconscious processes and jobs, such as your sleep-wake cycle and breathing. I communicates between brain and brain stem
3rd ventricle
produce cerebrospinal fluid and communicates with other ventricles:
Pineal Body
secretion of the melatonin.
Cerebellum
Maintaining balance
Frontal
memory, emotions, problem solving, and motor function.
Arbor vitae
manging balance
Occipital
visual processing, distance and depth perception, object and face recognition
Brain Stem
Your brainstem sends signals from your brain to the rest of your body. It controls many subconscious body functions, like breathing and maintaining your heart rate.
