addition reaction. because carbon double bond splits and halogen atom is added to each carbons
test for carbon carbon double bonds
shake alkene with orange bromine water, solution becomes colourless, because bromine molecules which are orange, react with alkene to make dibromoalkane, which is colourless. alkanes dont react with bromine water as they don’t have a double bond. iff you add alkene to bromine water, it will stay orange
