The quickest way to find the factors of a number is to divide it by the smallest prime number (bigger than one) that goes into it evenly with no remainder. Continue this process with each number you get, until you reach 1.

We look for the greatest factor of 48 that is a perfect square.

Note that 48 equals 16×3, we are 16 is a perfect square.
