Why was universities annoyed?
They had to teach for more people. This was a problem as the educated could get the non educated into their line of thinking.
Name one example of universities reacting?
Going to the people, 3,000-4,000 students went to the countryside with propaganda to influence the peasants.
Why did the going to the people movement not work?
The peasants remained loyal to the tsar and thought the students was dangerous.

Christian anarchist, pacifist and Marxists. Produced books for the educated. Had a liberal mindset. Believed the tsar was bad for Russia.

Russian revolutionary, Marxist. Founder of social democratic movement. Known as the father of Russian Marxism. Had a great influence on Lenin.
Who was Sergey Nechayev?
Russian revolutionary. Known with connection to the Nihilist movement. Exiled from Russia as he smuggled reading in to Russia to spark a revolution.
