Alex Fuel Injection Flashcards
Fuel Injection
Fuel Injection
**One way to eliminate the threat of carburetor ice is to remove the carburetor altogether. Recently, some manufacturers have done so by equiping new aircraft with fuel injection systems. These engines are more precise in metering fuel and distributing the fuel/air mixture than engines equipped with a float-ttpe carburetor. Fuel injection offers lower fuel consumption, increased horsepower, lower operating temperatures, and longer engine life. From a safety standpoint, the most significant advantage is the relative freedom from the formation of induction icing. **
