Management of Complicated Alcohol Withdrawal syndrome
A
- Stabilise the patient
- Fluids! Electrolytes! Vital Signs
- Vitamins = prevent/treat Wernicke’s
- Thiamine (parental) - 3 - 5 days
- Long acting BENZO
- Haloperidol or olanzapine - severely agitated patients with DTs or hallucinating
- Behavioral management
