Controlled airspace consists of:
Class A, B, C, D, E
18,000 ft MSL to FL 600 (IFR). Controlled airspace.
Class A Airspace
Surface to 10,000 ft. Surrounds busy airports. ATC clearance required. Controlled airspace.
Class B Airspace
Surface to 4,000 ft above airport elevation. Operational control tower. 2-way communication w/ATC required. Controlled airspace.
Class C Airspace
Surface to 2,500 ft above airport elevation. Operational control tower. 2-way communication w/ATC required. Controlled airspace.
Class D Airspace
Controlled airspace not A,B,C,D from the surface or designated altitude to adjacent or other overlying controlled airspace.
Class E Airspace
Extends from surface to base of overlying Class E airspace. ATC has no authority or responsibility, but VFR minimums apply. Uncontrolled airspace.
Class G Airspace
Class A VFR Weather Minimums
