What is a PAPI?
Precision Approach Path Indicator and provides obstruction clearance within 10 degrees of the extended centerline and to 4nm from the runway threshold.
Consists of light units arranged in a row.
What is a VASI?
Visual Approach Slope Indicator
Precision Approach Path Indicator and provides obstruction clearance within 10 degrees of the extended centerline and to 4nm from the runway threshold.
Consists of light units arranged in bars to indicate Below, On or Above the glidepath.
What are REIL?
Runway End Identifier Lights and they provide rapid and positive identification of the approach end of a particular runway.
What color are runway edge lights?
White - except on a runway with an instrument approach where the last 2000 ft or half the runway (whichever is less) are amber.
What is RCLS?
Runway Centerline Lighting System spaced 50 feet apart down the center of the runway on instrument runways and are white except the last 3000 ft which alternate red/white for 2000 ft then the remaining 1000 ft is red.
