Q

How are Master Caution indications different for dual vs. single channel fault?

A

Some systems on the aircraft use dual channel systems for redundancy and backup.

When these systems lose a single channel, the associated caution light (on the Overhead Panel) does not illuminate.

When a single or simple fault occurs, the respective caution light, system annunciator, and MASTER CAUTION lights do not automatically illuminate.

These faults, however, are stored
in the Master Caution System. Pushing either System Annunciator Panel recalls the single or simple fault by illuminating the respective caution light on the overhead panel, system
annunciator and MASTER CAUTION lights.

The caution light on the overhead panel, system annunciator, and MASTER CAUTION lights will extinguish when the MASTER CAUTION light is pushed.

Q

Which systems can pressurize the Potable Water System and what conditions must be met for the system to operate?

A

The Potable Water System is pressurized using either bleed air provided by the engines or APU,
or by an electric air compressor to ensure water supply.

The electric air compressor will turn on when:
-pressure in the water tank is less than 30 psig (pressure limit switch is closed)
- water service panel door is closed (compressor cut-out switch is closed)
- CAB/UTIL switch is positioned to ON

The Water Tank Electrical Air Compressor is disabled when the Water Tank Access Panel is not closed or removed.

The Water Tank can still be pressurized using bleed air once an engine or the APU is operating.

Q

Can the Aft Attendant Panel EMERGENCY EXIT LIGHTS override Flight Deck Control?

A

Yes, The EMERGENCY EXIT LIGHTS switch on the aft attendants panel may also be used to illuminate the Emergency Exit Lights.

Lifting the guard and pushing the switch ON overrides the Flight Deck control and illuminates the Emergency Exit Lights (even if the Flight Deck EMER EXIT LIGHTS switch is positioned to OFF).

Q

What causes the overwing emergency exits to lock?

A

- a minimum of three of the four entry/service doors are closed, and
- either engine is running, and
- the aircraft air/ground logic indicates that the aircraft is in the air or both thrust levers are advanced to the takeoff power position

Q

How is the PASS OXYGEN system activated?

A

The PASS OXYGEN switch is located on the aft overhead panel and is guarded to the NORMAL position. With the switch in NORMAL, the system is automatically activated by an aneroid switch at a cabin altitude of 14,000 ft. When required, the PASS OXYGEN switch may be manually positioned to ON to activate the system.
