Briefly describe what the MAU(Modular Avionics Unit) is.
It is a cabinet that houses the modules assigned to functions with in an integrated architecture to include avionics and non-avionics components
Where is MAU 1 and 2 located? MAU 3?
- 1 & 2 are in the FWD electronics Bay
* 3 is in the center electronic bay
How many reversionary panel controls are their in the plane?
2 one for each pilot
What happens to the reversionary selector knob is rotated out of the auto to PFD on the Captain’s side?
The number 2 DU (Captains MFD) display PFD data
What does the ADS button on the reversionary panel do?
Reverts the Air Data System source.
What does the IRS button on the reversionary panel do?
Reverts the IRS source.
Is their an associated ADS IRS source flag displayed anywhere?
Yes on the PFD
What does the EICAS FULL push button do?
- Pushed in- inhibits the automatic declutter(white stripped)
- Pushed Out- enables auto declutter
How would you turn on the dome lights?
Use the switch on the cockpit lights control panel( lower left overhead panel)
Where does each pilot control the brightness of their PFD, MFD displays?
On their associated glare shield
Where is the STBY/CLK brightness control located?
On the First Officers glare shield lights control.
How does the FA know that they have control of the temperature in the cabin?
An ENABLED led (FA panel) turns on when ever the pilot selects the ATTND on the overhead panel.
Where would you check the quantity of the potable water?
Aft FA control panel.
On which FA panel would display that the lav tank is full?
FA panel aft
Why would a water FAULT light led display on the FA panel.
Improper heating of drain tube.
What to the colors represent on the rainbow lights?
- Amber-toilet assistance
- Blue-PAX assistance

How many taxi lights are their and how many switches?
- 3 taxi lights
- 2 switches
- 1 light and switch for the nose light and 1 switch

How could the cockpit crew view door information.
On the MFD synoptic page.
Is the forward Avionics door reported on the MFD synoptic status page?
Yes.
What does the test button do on the cockpit door control panel?
Test the buzzer.
How can you tell on the Cockpit door control if the lock did not latch properly after pressing lock button in.
The unlock light will flash “ON”
What does the INHIB push button do?
Inhibits the emergency call command for 8 min. 20sec.(500sec) Lights up a red led on the passenger cabin control panel
Note: the cockpit door will open 30 seconds after the Emergency Call push button is pushed unless this INHIB button is selected.
What does the LOCK push button do?
Controls the cockpit door power supply Activates and deactivates the electromechanical door latch Activates and deactivates the inhibition control Resets the Buzzer alarm and opening sequence logic circuits.
What does the green and red LED’s on the control panel in the cabin represent.
The door is ( Red - Locked)
( Green - Unlocked)
How many flight crew members are required to perform the cockpit door test?
2
How many lamps are their in each navigation/ light assembly?
- 2, only one in use at a time.
* if it’s burned out MC can switched it.
What does a flashing of the amber light on the FA Rainbow mean?
Lav Fire Protection Alarm
What rainbow light illuminates and chimes when emergency is pressed from the cockpit?
Flashing red light (plus 3 high/low chimes)
How many Emergency light power units are there, and what are they powered from?
There are 4, and they are all connected to DC BUS 1
How long will they supply lighting for?
10 mins
Do the photo luminescent escape path strips need to be charged?
If so how long to charge them and how long they last in darkness?
Yes, 15 min to charge with light and will last around 7 hours.
What is the purpose of the vent flap on the external door handle?
Prevents pressurization above 0.5 psi when the door is not fully closed locked and latched.
What is the purpose of the internal door handle vent flap?
As the pressurization increases the vent flap pushing down on the lock mechanism making the door harder to open.
What color is the escape slide indication when the slide is armed? Disarmed?
Red is armed and green is disarmed.
When is an escape slide automatically disarmed?
When the door is opened from the Outside.
What does the PSEM stand for?
Proximity Sensor Evaluation Module it’s processes information provided by the proximity sensors{door warning switches} and activates the EICAS and MFD display when a door is open.
During a complete electrical failure how would you exit the cockpit?
You must use the manual override handle. During emergency egress make sure the passive lock pin is in the unlock position.
How far does the nose wheel turn in either direction?
78 degrees with the tiller and this narrows with and increase in speed.
What is the turn radius for 180 degree turn?
54’ 8” (tail clearance 54’3”)

Only if the flight attendant panel “COURTSEY LIGHTS” switch is in auto.

- Tank is 75% full.
* Tanks is full.
How is the DVDR activated?
- Turn on through the MCDU
- automatically turns on when an engine is running
- automatically turns off with weight on wheels and engine off
How long will the DVDR record for?
- 2 hours of voice and radio communications
* 25 hours of flight data in GMT
Can CVR be erased?
Yes, the airplane must be on the ground with the parking brake set.
