Aircraft Systems part 3(Pressurisation, Oxygen, Icing) Flashcards
The type of component used to pass all surplus pressure air out of the cabin -
outflow valve
Which type of cabin air pressure valve?
This prevents cabin pressure from exceeding a predetermined differential pressure above ambient, ie cabin pressure is reduced to prevent the fuselage from exploding
Pressure relief valve
Which type of cabin air pressure valve?
This prevents the ambient pressure from exceeding the cabin pressure, ie cabin pressure is increased to prevent the fuselage from collapsing
Vacuum relief valve
Audible and visual, a red light, warnings occur on the flight deck if the cabin pressure reaches?
10 000ft
Outflow valves shut automatically if the cabin pressure reaches?
13 000ft
passenger oxygen masks are automatically deployed if the cabin pressure reaches?
14 000ft
What type of pressurisation failure:
Commonly a fault with the controller, control system or malfunction of the outflow valve. If the problem cannot be solved the pilot should remain below 10 000ft or, if already above that altitude descend to 10 000 ft, ensure that crew and passengers are using oxygen, or terminated the flight.
Lack of pressurisation
What type of pressurisation failure:
The cause can also be linked to the controller, control system of outflow valve. The action to be taken would include manually depressurising the system gradually, at the same time beginning descent and use oxygen as required
Rapid pressurisation
What type of pressurisation failure:
This is a natural loss of air but should be compensated for by the pressurisation system, but where it is not then the fault can probably be traced to air inflow problems.
Leakdown
Considering the diluter demand oxygen system, if there is smoke in the cabin the crew should select?
The emergency setting
the diluter demand oxygen system is used by -
flight crew
The type of oxygen system used on light aeroplanes with a pilot and up to 5 passengers, and also on modern large passenger jet aeroplanes.
Continuous flow system
The type of oxygen system on large passenger jet aeroplanes not requiring compressed oxygen bottles?
Solid state or chemical system
The type of oxygen system used for continuous operation between 35 000 - 45 000ft?
Pressure demand system
In America, and any countries other than America, what is the colour of oxygen cylinders?
green
black and a white top
