What does a traffic control advocate do?
They are responsible for addressing SINGLE flight concerns of operators
What is the Command Center?
The air traffic control system command center is located in VA its role is to manage the flow of air traffic within the continental united states
What are Traffic Management Initiatives?
they are programs and tools that ATC may use to manage air traffic
What is Tracon?
Terminal radar approach control: 30nm from central airport, they provide aircraft services to departing and arriving aircraft
What is a Ground stop?
requires aircraft that meet a specific criteria to remain on the ground at the origination airport due to constraints at the destination airport
What is a Ground delay program? GDP
a traffic management initiative where aircraft are delayed at their departure airport in order to reconcile demands with capacity at destination airport
What is an AFP?
Area Flow Program: its similar to a GDP bur they control the flow through an airspace
What benefits does ADS-B have for pilots?
Allows more efficient traffic flow
Better SA
Allows data communication
What is a gate hold?
Departure delays due to traffic volume or WX they hold at the gate instead of the air
What is an Expect Departure Clearance Time?
a runway release time assigned to an aircraft, aircraft are expected to takeoff at that time +/- 5min
What is a pre departure clearance?
an electronic version of the IFR clearance
What is a hot spot?
a location on an airport movement area with a history or potential risk of collision or runway incursion
What is TCAS 1?
provides proximity warning only
What is TCAS 2?
provides traffic and resolution advisories
