AIR SYSTEM & PRESS. Flashcards
What the air conditioning system supply?
Conditioned outside air temperature and recirculated cabin air at controlled temperature throughout the airplane
Which are the automatic functions of the air system
Pack control,
zone temp control,
cabin recirculation,
fault detection,
overheat protection
How many CAC are installed in the 787
4 CAC two each pack
When the deflector door may retract
When temp is below 2 degrees or above 35
When the deflector door extend
During landing phases or in ground
How many packs we have on board
2 packs and for each pack two CAC supplies pressurized air
Can a single CAC provide sufficient air to operate it s associated pack in any condition
Yes it can provide sufficient air to it’s pack
On grd how many CAC runs with APU power
Normally with APU on in grd on CAC each pack is ON
How many CAC are working during engine start up
None
How many minutes before pack restart after engine start
2 minute and angine running
Cold weather ops how many CAC are ON in grd
Both CAC in each pack are commanded on
In-Flight assisted start how many CAC runs
Only one CAC runs
Single engine go around and slat autogap needed how many pack are shed
Both of them and eicas PACK L R may show no pilot action required
What is the stby cooling mode
Is a backup function of the normal PACK mode , the affected pack has less capacity then NORMAL pack mode and it stops to work at LOW ALTITUDE AND HOT TEMPERATURES and restart in cold and high altitude
Alternate ventilation system
AVS provides ventilation to the cabin when both PACK are inop. When airplane is depressurized and switch is ON the AVS on -8 opens the fwd and aft outflow valve fully while in -9 opens the FWD at 10’ and the aft 01 o’clock
Cabin Temp range
18-29 cabin crew may adjust +- 3
Humidification system
Start to work when cruising above 25000 ft for more then 20 min and auto switch off 1/1.30 min before touchdown
Which cargo compartments are heated and available to trnasport live and perishable
FWD AND BULK
FWD CARGO TEMP RANGE
4-27
EQUIPMENT COOLING FWD AFT OVERRIDE MODE IF
BOTH FAN SUPPLY FAIL LOW AIRFLOW DETECTED SMOKE DETECTED HIGH TEMP DETECTED FIRE SWITCH IN ARM MODE OVERRIDE SWITCH PRESSED ON BOTH FLOW SENSOR FAIL
WHAT IS A PECS
POWER ELETRONICS COOLING SYSTEM for large motor power distribution system located in AFT E/E compartments, the systems consists in two indipendents pumps and loops
How the system can maintain the pressurization of the plane?
Discharging conditioned air from the 2 outflow valves
How may outflow valves are installed in the b787?
Total of 2 one FWD one AFT
Why we have POSITIVE and NEGATIVE relief valves?
To protect the fuselage against excessive pressure differential
Which modes are available for pressurization system
MANUAL AND AUTOMATIC
In which modes operates the CPCS
CLIMB CRUISE AND DESCENT MODE
During unplanned level off what happen to the cabin altitude
The cabin altitude stop to climb until the airplane start again to climb
What happen to the cabin altitude in case of planned level off?
Will continue to climb to the target cabin altitude
How the system adjust the climb and pressurization
Using flight plan data insert in the fmc and using ambient pressure
How high can be a cabin altitude in 787
Normally up to 6000ft but in degraded mode can reach 8000 ft
