Air Receiver Flashcards
What is the air receiver normally fitted with?
Pressure gauge
Drain valve
Pressure relief valve
What must the pressure relief valve be capable of?
Discharging more air than the compressor?
4 purposes of an air receiver?
Hold compressed air
Smooth out pressure surges
Cool the air
Emergency supply
How is moisture separated in a filter?
Moisture is forced into a whirling flow by directional louvers
Any liquid particles are now forced against the side and return to the bottom of the bowl
They are then removed by the drain valve
The baffle maintains a quiet zone preventing air turbulence from picking up the liquid
What are the 3 components of an oil lubricator?
Oil control valve
Viaduct assembly
Syphon tube
How does the oil lubricator work?
Consists of an oil reservoir, it works on the Venturi principle
As a result of depression oil is drawn up the siphon tube and into the viaduct assembly
It’s metered through an oil control valve and atomised then taken up to the air stream
What is the purpose of an oil lubricator?
Metered lubrication to the air for pneumatic tools
