Air Power Flashcards
Reach is one of the key elements of air power. In your own words explain why you think it is significant; providing supporting information and examples as
you see fit. (60 secs)
Reach is one of the three main characteristics of Air Power along with Speed and Height. The reach of air power provides the opportunity to observe and influence operations in the maritime and land environments, regardless of their location.
Examples of reach are Air-to-air refuelling carried out by the Voyagers to extend flight times overcome the limiting factor of refuelling on the ground. Another is the RAFs presence in space by launching satellites to send live high-resolution imagery to RAF fighter jet cockpits, providing an unprecedented level of battle awareness and observation
Height is one of the key elements of air power. In your own words explain why you think it is significant; providing supporting information and examples as
you see fit. (60 secs)
Height is one of the three main characteristics, along with speed and reach. Height enables observation and delivery, of activities in the land and maritime environment.
Speed is one of the key elements of air power. In your own words explain why you think it is significant; providing supporting information and examples as
you see fit. (60 secs)
What are the 4 underpinning Pillars to Air Power?

What is Air Power?
Air Power is defined as “the ability to use air capabilities in and from the air, to influence the
behaviour of actors and the course of events”.
