Air Law Flashcards
What are tha main requirements to possess a CPL ?
Age 18 Medical 1 80 hours of ground school 60 % at the CPAER Pass the flight test and show a certain experience of flying.
What is the certain experience of flying needed to be able to pass a CPL flight test ?
200 hours total with 65 hours after PPL containing 30h solo and 35h in dual :
- 35h dual ( 5 h night including 2h cross country, 5 h cross country , 20h instrument with a 10 min in a plane )
- 100h solo [ including 20 h cross country and 30h after PPL ( 2 h flight exercises with a 300NM cross-country, 5h solo time by night with at least 10 touch and go) ]
What are the privileges of CPL ?
PPL license, Night rating ,VFR OTT , for commercial air service act as PIC or copilot depending on the crew restriction of the aeroplane.
What are the recency requirements of the CPL ?
• 5 years without flying : rewrite the PSTAR and a flight review with the instructor (more 24 month : recurrent training program )
• 24 months without flying : Transport Canada Seminar, Pilot proficiency check, Licence (PPL,CPL), ratings or written exam.
To carry passengers : you must have performed 5 landings and take offs within 6 months
What are the low level airways ?
Controlled low level airspace
between 2 VORs or a VOR and an NDB which extends upward from 2200 ft AGL to 17999 ft ASL.
What are the restrictions regarding Fuel Dumping ?
No person shall jettison fuel from aircraft in flight unless it is necessary to do so in order to ensure aviation safety ( all appropriate measures have been taken to minimize danger to human life and damage to environment as the circumstances permit )
What is the endorsment of High performance plane ?
- Aeroplane requiring only one pilot with a max speed ≥ Vne 250 KIAS or a Vso ≥ 80KIAS
- Amateur-built aeroplane that has a wing loading > the one specified in section 549.103 ( flaps 65 Kg/m² without flaps and 100 Kg/m² with flaps )
An applicant must have done ground training and flight training on type and possess 200 hours TT
What is the crew member instruction requirement ?
The PIC shall ensure that each crew member has been instructed with respect to the duties, the location and use of exits ( emergency also) and all of the emergency equipment carried on board the aircraft.
What is the ESCAT plan ?
When the ESCAT plan is implemented the PIC shall :
- Obtain approval from the appropriate ATC or FSS before take off
- Comply with any instruction
- Provide position reports as required in controlled airspace and at least 30 min in uncontrolled airspace
What is the Noise operating criteria ?
No person shall operate an aircraft in the vicinity of an aerodrome except in accordance with the noise abatement procedures and control requirements specified in the CAP and CFS.
When shall we use the position and anticollision lights ?
On ground at night, on water between sunset and sunrise, and in the air.
What is the De-Icing and Anti-Icing requirement ?
If icing conditions are reported or are forecast to be encountered along the route, it is not possible to take off or continue the flight unless the PIC determines that the aircraft is adequately equipped to operate in icing conditions or current weather reports or PIREPS indicate that icing condition no longer exist.
What is a Flight training unit ?
No person shall operate a flight training service unless he holds a FTU operator certificate and complies with the condition and the specifications set out in the certificate.
In what consist the Aerial Work ?
- Carriage of persons other than flight crew members,
- Towing of objects
- Dispersal of products
What are the requirement for doing aerial work carrying passengers without an Air operator certificate ?
- The person holds a flight training operator certificate
- The pilot holds a valid flight instructor rating in the deemed aircraft
- The aircraft is operated in day VFR flight
- No more than 9 passengers on board
- The flight is conducted for sightseeing operations
What is a Monitoring system for an air operator ?
A system that monitors :
The flight time
The flight duty time
The rest periods of each of its flight crew members
Shall include in the company operations manual the details of that system
The operation manager is responsible to ensure that the flight crew does not exceed duty time limits.
What are the total flight time limitations for flight crew members ?
- 1200 hours in any 365 consecutive days
- 300 hours in any 90 consecutive days
- 120 hours in any 30 consecutive days
In the case of a flight crew member on call, 100 hours in any 30 consecutive days.
What are the possibility of extending a flight duty time when the flight crew members benefit from a rest period ?
The duty time shall not exceed 14 consecutive hours in any 24 consecutive hours unless the flight crew member benefited from a rest period of at least 4 hours, in this case the duty time is extended by ½ of the rest period (up to a max extended duty time of 3 hours)
