What are the origins of Tejas?
A
Tejas aircraft is the brainchild of the light combact aircraft programme(1984) of GOI.
The programme was started when the GOI established the aeronautical development agency which was designed to manage the LCA programme and design TEJAS.

WHY WAS TEJAS EVEN DEVELOPED? Who currently manufactures Tejas?
A
It was mainly developed to replace the ageing Mig21 fighter planes.

How good is Tejas?
A
Well it is among the lightest battle aircraft of the IAF and is capable of achieving Supersonic speed (1.8 mach).
it has one engine and can carry a payload of 4000Kg.
