30
Q

What is the primary objective of the Tool Program for AIMD?

A

It provides a means to rapidly account for all tools after completing a maintenance task. The point is to reduce the potential for FOD. (BOSATAF, EOSATAF, perform sight inventory before starting, in-work, and completing a maintenance task)

31
Q

What does ALSS stand for?

A

Aviation Life Support System

32
Q

What does ESD stand for?

A

Electro-Static Discharge

33
Q

Explain the purpose of the Monthly Maintenance Plan.

A

The MMP provides a schedule of predictable maintenance work. It is prepared and distributed by the 25th of each month. It is used by supervisors to be aware of upcoming requirements. It includes the following minimum information; flight hours, dates of scheduled inspections, training, qualifications, chain-of-command, calibration schedules, Technical Directive Compliance Dates, ect.

34
Q

Discuss the importance of the Electro-Static Discharge Program.

A

ESD is the transfer of an electrostatic charge between objects at different potentials caused by direct contact or induced by an electrostatic field. The ESD program provides protected areas for material, equipment, and procedures required to control and minimize electrostatic discharges. ESD protected areas are required when handling ESD sensitive parts, assemblies, and equipment outside of their ESD protective covering or packaging.

35
Q

Explain the purpose of the Aviation life Support System (ALSS) rotatable pools.

A

ALSS items, by their nature, require specialized storage and maintenance requirements. Items placed in the ALSS pool cannot be exposed to the same temperature and humidity factors as other aircraft pool items. Additionally, these items must always be ready for use when they’re drawn and issued to an aviator. This pool allows the aircrew survival equipment technicians to ensure the highest possible integrity is maintained over these items.

36
Q

Discuss the purpose of the Sea Operational Detachment (SeaOpDet).

A

SeaOpDet personnel are skilled technicians that are assigned to Sea Duty and assigned to deploy with designated carriers in support of the air wing. They work in the AIMDs at their home bases. (i.e. AIMD Whidby Island, JAX, Oceana) until required by the assigned carrier.

37
Q

State the basic function of intermediate maintenance activities (afloat).

A

It is to support the embarked airwing. This includes SE training, repair of inducted aircraft components, special inspections, and technician assistance on aircraft discrepancies.

38
Q

Discuss the purpose of the Navy Metrology and Calibration Program (METCAL).

A

Consisting of numerous ratings the “Cal Lab” is the central point of repair for all test equipment, calibrated tools, and gauges used throughout the ship. Metrology insures accuracy standards of a higher level.

39
Q

Discuss the importance of the Support Equipment (SE) Training and Licensing Program.

A

Ensures that persons using ground support equipment items are properly trained prior to turning them loose on the world. General requirements for licensing include formal classroom instruction, OJT, a written exam, and an interview by the QAO or the MO.

40
Q

Discuss the all-hands responsibility of the SE Misuse and Abuse program.

A

It is the responsibility of all hands to ensure the SE is utilized properly. Anyone witnessing the misuse of support equipment is expected to submit an SE misuse/abuse report.
