Q

What are the three types of hypotheses?

A

Directional - this predicts the direction of the difference
For example - people who drink caffeine will recall significantly more words than those who do not drink any caffeine

Non directional - this does not state the direction, it just states that there is one
For example - there will be a significant difference in the number of words recalled from a memory test depending on whether participants drink a cup of caffeine or have no caffeine

Null hypotheses - there is no difference and the IV will not affect the DV
For example - there will be no significant difference in the number of words recalled from a memory test depending on whether participants drink a cup of caffeine or have no caffeine
