Q

What causing ageing?

A

Aging is due to the gradual build up of unrepaired falts in cells and tssues. This makes us vulnerable to acute and chronic illness.

Bombardment by cellular byproducts
causing cell damage with failed repair mechanisms.
Disopsable soma theory - - somatic line isn’t as important as the germ cell line so the somatic cells are less adapt to survive (protective mechanisms fail)

Not made of a sedentary lifestyle. Starved animals live longer.

Repair and maintenance of cells more important than storage -> survive longer.
