Q

Point 1,2,3 (intro observation eval)

A

1) intro: bandura: original slt theory wasn’t enough to explain
2) observation: aggressive responses are learnt mainly by observation, role models are imitated. Vicarious reinforcement: learn consequences of aggressive behaviour through punishment and reward. They learn what’s appropriate or effective and what’s worth repeating
3) eval: strength is that slt explains inconsitensies in aggressive behaviour, for example a young friend may be aggressive around their friends only, this is because they get away with it w friends

Explain point 4,5,6,7

Mental representation, Eval: ACT against crime, production of behaviour, bobo doll

A

4) mental representation;
Bandura claimed children must form representations of consequences of an action. When opportunity arises learned behaviour will be used if expectation of reward is greater. Schema: how rules r learnt. Established in childhood used for life
5) application: therefore ppl can learn now to display aggression : ACT AGAINST VIOLENCE is intervention programme educates parents on availability of dangerous role models
6) production of behaviour:
a) Maintenance through direct experience: if rewarded, it’s likely it’ll be repeated. E.g kid w history of bullying others value aggression
b) self efficacy expectancies: confidence affects it, get away w more: more confident
7) bobo doll study
