-repeated exposure to aggressive stimuli through use of video games decreases levels of arousal and people become habituated to the violence

-exposure to violent media lowers these inhibitions so people behave a way they normally wouldn’t

-other explanations , the mechanisms do not consider the individual differences in susceptibility to aggression , for example it could be that individuals have to be predisposed to aggression (MAOA) so video games may not have same effect on all people
