- People may want to obtain a positive self-image
- Once pps has moved into agentic state the responsibility is no longer theirs so concern is no longer relevant.
- Actions performed in the agentic state are seen as virtually guilt free

- Social etiquette plays a role in regulating our social behaviour.
- In order to break away from the experiment, the pps has to break his commitment he made with the experimenter.
- He may appear rude and arrogant so such behaviours are not taken lightly.
