Who is King Henry? What did he do and believe in?
King Henry was referred to as the navigator. He saw great promise in Africa. He believed he could find gold in the sources of gold Muslim controlled. He wanted to find easier way to reach Asia. Gathered mapmakers, made maps and prepared captains.

With support of the pope Spain and Portugal agreed to settle their claims and sign TREATY OF TORDESILLAS IN 1494. it set up LINE OF DEMOCRATION(unclear because geography was accurate) , dividing up the non-European world in 2 zones. They were allowed to claim vast areas.

who didSpain capture and why would it be easy to capture?
Spain captured the Philippines. it was so easy because it was not united. Spain conquered and colonized them remaining them for the Spanish king Phillip II. Spanish wanted to convert them to Christianity and later spread Catholic teaching top Japan and China.

Dutch takes over Malacca., opened trade with China and enforced monopoly of Spice islands. -using military force to further their trading goals.

Chinese welcomed the chance to learn about Rennasssiance Europe. Maatteo Ricci learned to speak chinese and adopted chinese clothing. he wanted to convert upper class chinese to christatainty. He wanted them to spread Christian teaching to all of China.
