What is peer pressure?
Some may encourage young people to engage in criminal activities and it is one of the main reasons why they commit crime.
What is subcultures?
Younger people are more likely to join these and have they have high levels of antisocial behaviour and delinquency.
What is boredom?
One of the main reasons why children get into trouble is because they have nothing to do and nowhere to go.
What is lifestyle?
It takes them to environments where crime takes place, young people are more likely to be on the streets or in clubs.
What is excitement?
They may find rule breaking exciting and it will make them excited to do more.
What is breakdown in social control?
If social controls are not put into place then criminal behaviour may be the result. The police may see young people as troublemakers.
What is labbeling theory?
How a young person presents themselves may get them arrested or convicted due to typifications.
What is status frustration?
Underachievement in education leads to working class boys to seek status elsewhere turning to deviance to gain status amongst their peers.
What is poor socialisation?
Young people are involved in crimes as they come from dysfunctional, broken homes.
What is social stereotypes?
If young people commit crime, police will monitor them more than older groups meaning they are more likely to get caught.
What are lawyers fees?
Young people are more likely to be convicted in court bevause they can’t afford expensive lawyer’s fee.
