A

It is the most populous country in Africa. Also women carry food on their head in Nigeria. The city is growing really fast and it is hard for leaders to supply enough water for everyone.

About 80% of the people in both (blank) and (blank) are Hutu, but the Tutsi ran the governments and economies for many years. In the 1990s civil war erupted including genocide or the deliberate murder of a group of people because of their race of culture. A Hutu led government in Rwanda killed hundreds of thousands of Tutsi.

Ethiopia

A

Ethiopia’s landscape varies from hot lowlands and cool Hilary’s and even rugged mountains. It is landlocked. Mild temperatures and good soil in the highlands and the plantations that are up there raise grain, sugarcane, potatoes, and coffee. In the 80s Ethiopia suffered a horrible drout and the countries fields are dust. There was a famine that killed over a million Ethiopians from diseases and starvation. About 85% of Ethiopians live in rural areas, although the capital, Addis Ababa is one of the largest cities in East Africa.

Sudan

A

Sudan fought a bitter civil war killing over 1.5 million people. is the largest country in Africa, is covered in the north by the dunes of the Sahara and the Nubian Desert. In the central area of grassy plains the two many tributes if the Nile River. Most of Sudan’s people live along the Nile River. During the AD 500s, missionaries brought Christianity. About 900 years later, Muslims Arabs entered northern Sudan and converted its people to Islam. The Berlin conference did all the damage to Africa which ended up splitting Sudan to Sudan and South Sudan. Sudan is mostly ruled by the military.

Eritrea

A

In 1993 Eritrea broke away from Ethiopia and sits on the shores of the Red Sea. Most of the people are subsistence farmers but the climate is dry and uncertain. One of the world newest country.

Somalia

A

Somalia is situated on the tip of the Horn of Africa much of the country is hot and dry and desert like which makes it hard for farming. Most people have cattle and try to find grass. Most people are poor. In the south there are rivers and provide irrigation for fruits like bananas and sugarcane. A nomadic herder follows animals. Nearly all the people are Muslim but they belong to different clans the Shea and Suny. The clans were fighting and in the 80s there was a violent war. Today armed groups own different parts of Somalia. There are pirates.

Djibouti

A

Djibouti is located at a narrow water passage that links the Red Sea and the gulf of Aden. This passage is the meeting point of a lot of really important trade routes that link the Indians ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. It has a very important position. Djibouti has an excellent natural harbor and a modern port.
