They happen because people move from villagers to cities thinking they will get rich.

A shanty town is an illegal settlement made out of anything people can find.

Why are Rural areas might often be poorer than urban areas?
Rural poverty often stems from limited access to markets, education, quality infrastructure, employment opportunities, health, and financial products. While the city has more money and better education.

Having no/ little food, having not a lot of money in hand.
How could you improve the quality of life in rural areas?
By buying food directly from the farmers
