what is desertification?
the process by which fertile land becomes desert, typically as a result of drought, deforestation, or inappropriate agriculture.
what is the nile?
the nile is formed by three principal streams: the blue nile, and the white nile alongside the nile.
what is conditional aid?
when a country donates money or resources to another but with conditions attached.
what is emergency aid?
immediate or short term disaster relief for natural disasters or human induced disasters.
state the benefits of aid:
- saves peoples lives in times of disasters
- helps rebuild housing and livelihoods after a disaster
- projects develop clear water and sanitation provisions can lead to improved health and living standards
state the cons of aid:
- may not reach people who need it the most (corruption may lead to politicians using it for their own gains)
- can put political or economic pressure on the receiving country
- inappropriate projects may lead to food and water costing more, projects may put resources under the control of foreign countries
rwanda infant mortality
infant mortality has fallen significantly in rwanda because of improved healthcare. more children are surviving because the improvement of healthcare allows the safe delivery of healthy children.

17.1% more of the population has better drinking water, this is important because there is less dirty water being drank which usually spreads diseases such as cholera.
threats to africa:
rate of temperature increase in africa is higher than global average, this has many threats to the development of africa.
climate change & africa
Africa has been losing from 5 to 15% of its GDP due to climate change, despite only emiting less than 4% of global carbon emissions. In comparison to countries like the US, Canada and Japan who have contributed about 50% of greenhouse gases, yet Africa are being impacted? Africa has been experiencing harsh weathers and the rate of temperature increase is higher than global average. This leads to glaciers such as Mount Kilimanjaro expected to melt by 2040s.
