  1. Lack of sufficient oxygen to the body resulting in impairment of memory, judgment. Can also cause drowsiness, dizziness, euphoria, belligerence and eventually unconscious.

What is the cause of Carbon Monoxide? What is the resolution?

A
  1. Colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas’s found in engine fumes. Most likely caused by the heater.
  2. Close heater vents and open outside air and land as soon as practical

A

Narrow Runway: illusion that you’re too high causing a lower approach

Wider runway: leveling out to high

Upsloping runway: illusion of being to high

Downsloping runway: illusion of being too low

A

Dark areas: create the illusion the airplane is higher than it is

Lots of lights along a road can be mistaken as a runway

A

Up to 8000ft - 12 hours after a dive without controlled ascent, 24 hours after dive with a controlled ascent

Above 8000ft- At least 24 hours

What causes Hyperventilation? Symptoms and recovery techniques

A

Caused by a rapid increase in breathing caused by anxiety or stress

Symptoms: Dizziness, Nausea, Tingling hands legs and feet, drowsiness, and in some cases unconscious

Recovery Techniques: reduce rate of breathing by talking, singing, or breathing in and out of a bag
