PC Silent Handovers - Departing Aircraft

Transfer of control may be effected without a radar handover provided that the aircraft is:

A
  • Displaying a discrete SSR code and within PC’s anticipated radar coverage at the time of transfer.
  • At or climbing to the agreed level (SID altitude).
  • Following a SID or agreed route.
  • Separated from all local area traffic.
  • Transferred to PC on or before the local area boundary.

The direct line for the appropriate sector into which the aircraft is departing must also be fully serviceable.

a. Any Fire vehicle;
b. Ops Sierra;
c. Ops 1-3 only.

Aircraft routing direct GRICE:

  • Runway 06
  • Runway 24

Direct GRICE is not available for aircraft departing from Runway 06 on GRICE departures.

Runway 24
AIR/ADC may instruct aircraft cleared on the GRICE departure to route direct to GRICE, without reference to INT, provided that:
- INT has not suspended freeflow for GRICE departures;
- AIR/ADC ensures 5nm separation, constant or increasing, between departures prior to transfer to PC;
- Non-jet aircraft are not permitted to turn direct GRICE until passing altitude 3000ft;
- Jet aircraft are not permitted to turn direct GRICE until passing altitude 4000ft.
