Aero microbiology Flashcards
Aero microbiology
The study of microbes living in air. The study of microbes living in air and transported through air.
Launching
Suspension of particles in the atmosphere is
called launching.
Transport
Dissemination of airborne microbes over long distances.
Impingement
Trapping of air borne particles in a liquid matrix i.e. AGI-30.
Impaction
The forced deposition of airborne particles on a solid surface i.e. Anderson six-stage impaction sampler.
Centrifugation
Mechanically forced deposition of airborne
particles using inertial force of gravity.
Filtration
The trapping of airborne particles by size exclusion.
Deposition
Collection of airborne particles using only
naturally occurring deposition forces.
Open air factors
It is closely linked to oxygen toxicity and is defined as a mixture of factors produced when Ozone and Hydrocarbons react.
