Consumer will join the ranks of the elite by using the product
What is appeal to tradition?
Experience and number of years of service or product being used

An indirect reference to a famous person, place, thing or event

A play upon words (has more than one meaning)

Giving non human things human characteristics
What’s alliteration?
Repetition of vowel or consonant sounds at the bneginning of words

If the consumer doesn’t buy the product, they will become a social outcast (product is needed/required)

Butter up the consumer with flattery
What is patriotism?
Purchasing the product or using the service to show love to your country
What a rhetorical question?
A question which demands a response for consumers , the answer seems obvious

Suggests that a miraculous discovery makes the product/service

Words that seem substantial at first but are really meaningless

Quality for a good price

Product is better quality then the higher price competitors

Consumers should not settle for second best (only the best)

Consumers should not stand out or be different than others, since everyone else has the product

Figures and statistics prove a point beyond dispute

Exploits a persons hidden fears and insecurities

A constant statement of an idea in order to fix the image of the product or service in a persons mind

Product is effective since it’s scientifically based

Using children who seem “perfect” to sell products/service

Images of family,children,starving,injured animals,poverty,accidents,etc to create a emotional response

Images or words about the past are used to stir an Emotional response
What’s false transference?
Transferring positive qualities form a person or object to the product/service being advertised

Cute/cuddly pets, cartoons, animated or life like mascots being used to sell the product
What are some reasons for advertising?

-makes money
-inform public
-boost publicity for product
How to consumers benefit from advertising?
-Gives them information about product
-increases public’s own well being
-the feeling of owning a popular item
I hate are disadvantages of advertising?
-persuade consumers to buy things they don’t need
-does not work for the betterment of society
-may not help sales
