Q

Moses 4:6

A

And Satan put it into the heart of the serpent, (for he had drawn away many after him,) and he sought also to beguile Eve, for he knew not the mind of God, wherefore he sought to destroy the world.

NOTES: Satan operates through half lies; he counterfeits everything. He has his own temple, endowment, signs and tokens. The dark power comes from knowledge that he has. Example: You shall not die, but shall be as the gods, knowing good from evil. Intertwines lies and truth to deceive. We must know truth and have access to revelation so we can avoid being deceived by the master deceiver.

Q

Brigham Young

Discourses of BY, page 345

A

All intelligent beings who are crowned with crowns of glory in mortality and eternal lives must pass through every ordeal appointed for intelligent beings to pass through to gain their glory and exaltation. Every calamity that can come upon mortal beings will be suffered to come upon the few to prepare them to enjoy the presence of the Lord. If we obtain the glory that Abraham obtained, we must do so by the same means that he did. If we are prepared to enjoy the society of Enoch, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob… or of their faithful children… and of the faithful prophets and apostles, we must pass through the same experience to gain the knowledge, intelligence, and endowments that will prepare us to enter into the Celestial Kingdom of our father and God. How many of the LDS will endure all these things and be prepared to enjoy the presence of the father and the son? You can answer that question at your leisure. Every trial and experience you have passed through is necessary for your salvation.

(paraphrased)

There are two kinds of adversity common to all… and ordained tutorials specific to you, that you knew about before you came here, and are designed to have a specific effect upon your progress.

6 And now, I, Moroni, would speak somewhat concerning these things; I would show unto the world that faith is things which are hoped for and not seen; wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith.

(Christians) they cannot dwell with the father and the son unless they go through those ordeals which are ordained for the church of the firstborn. The ordinances of the house of God are expressly for the church of the firstborn.

Q

2 Nephi 2: 1-2

A

1 And now, Jacob, I speak unto you: Thou art my firstborn in the days of my tribulation in the wilderness. And behold, in thy childhood thou hast suffered afflictions and much sorrow, because of the rudeness of thy brethren.

2 Nevertheless, Jacob, my firstborn in the wilderness, thou knowest the greatness of God; and he shall consecrate thine afflictions for thy gain.

Q

DC 98: 1-3

A

1 Verily I say unto you my friends, fear not, let your hearts be comforted; yea, rejoice evermore, and in everything give thanks;

2 Waiting patiently on the Lord, for your prayers have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth, and are recorded with this seal and testament—the Lord hath sworn and decreed that they shall be granted.

3 Therefore, he giveth this promise unto you, with an immutable covenant that they shall be fulfilled; and all things wherewith you have been afflicted shall work together for your good, and to my name’s glory, saith the Lord.
