A

Athletics plays a crucial role in developing the fundamental skills required for any game in physical education. It enhances speed, agility, strength, endurance, coordination, balance, and flexibility, all of which are essential for various sports. Running and sprinting improve quick reflexes, while events like long-distance running and throwing build stamina and power. Jumping activities enhance balance and flexibility, reducing the risk of injury and improving overall performance. Additionally, athletics fosters discipline, focus, and determination, qualities that are necessary for success in any game. By building these foundational skills, athletics serves as the backbone of physical education, preparing students to excel in a wide range of sports and physical activities.

Q

equipment required for bungee jumping. how is it used?

A

bungee cord, harness, and rubber cord. A bungee cord is attached to the jumper’s ankle with a harness. A bungee cord is mostly made of multiple strands of rubber and natural latex. Bungee cords are discarded after 500 to 1000 jumps to ensure safety. Two harnesses are attached to the body of the jumper, one to the ankle and another to the body, to increase safety. Some bungee jumping facilities add another safety facility, such as the extra rubber cords, to maximize safety.

Q

expain paragliding

A

In paragliding, the pilot sits in a harness or lies in a cocoon-like pod suspended below a fabric wing. Wing shape is maintained by the suspensio lines, the pressure of air entering vents in front of the wing, and the aerodynamic forces of the air flowing over the outside. By skillful exploitation of sources of lift, the pilot may gain height, often climbing to altitudes of a few thousand meters. Despite not using an engine, paragliding lasts many hours and covers many hundreds of kilometers.

13
Q

explain ice skating

A

In ice skating, a skate can glide over ice because there is a layer of ice molecules on the surface. These molecules are in a semiliquid state, providing lubrication. A person’s ability to ice skate depends on the roughness of the ice, the design of the ice skate, and the skill and experience of the skater.

downsweap technique, which by turning it downward

25
Q

long jump

A

the action of stepping on the takeoff board with a run and jumping long.

26
Q

methods of long jump

A
  1. The competitor should take off on one foot. The feet are kept together with the body arching backwards.
  2. The two feet are thrown forward with two hands in a circle simultaneously.
  3. The heels should land on the pit first. The competitor should not try to touch the pit between the two points of takeoff and landing with any part of his/her body while landing.
27
Q

steps of long jump

A
  1. approach
the first step of running races, which enables a runner to control the speed of running when he/she hits the board. running of 30/40 m distance to cover maximum distance in a long jump.
  2. takeoff
the act of leaving ground with the opimum power of the runner.
  3. flight
the walking motion of the jumper in the air. The hitch kick is the commonly used style of flight in long jumps.
  4. landing
the act of touching the ground with both legs after the flight. necessary to extend the legs forward wide apart for a good landing.
28
Q

high jump

A

a track and field event in which competitors must jump unaided over a horizontal bar placed at measured heights without dislodging

29
Q

steps of high jump

A
  1. approach
the first step of high jumping to gain the momentum for the second step necessary to determine the style of approach before taking it.
  2. takeoff
the second step of high jump, in which the final step of the athlete leads him/her to jump to create a vertical lift and to set up for rotation in flight. taken about one metre ahead of the cross bar.
  3. flight
taken to corss the bar with the leg stradding it. at the time of light, the takeoff leg opens behind and moves upward by rotating hips.
  4. clearance
an athlete should kick the lead leg high straight to pass the bar by head and trunk at the same time. Stomach and chest should face downward, and the head should be below the bar after crossing it.
  5. landing
the final step of a long jump in which the athlete lands on the foot opposite the takeoff foot. should be made on the right side of the body, rolling over towards the shoulder.

Q

steps of shot put

  2. stance
taken before proceeding to put and from the inside edge of the circle opposite to the putting direction.
  3. gliding
the athlete becomes ready to release the shot by approaching his left foot to the toe board.
  4. delivery
the athlete should put the shot forcefully and release from the hands. the body weight should be shifted totally to the left foot and the left knee is extended.
