What does a 1 level Overcall show?
Overcaller has a 5+ card suit and 8- 17 HCPs
If you have a three card fit, how many points do you need to raise Overcaller’s bid to the 2 level?
6-10 dummy points
With a 3 card fit and more than 10 dummy points, what should Advancer bid?
Cuebid - shows 11+ points
What is the significance of a 1 level cuebid by Advancer?
It is the only strong bid Advancer can make with a fit. It shows 11+ dummy points and 3+ card support
What is the significance of a jump raise by Advancer?
Shows a weak hand and 4+ card support by Advancer. (Example - 1C, 1S, Pass, 3S - shows 4+ card support for Overcaller’s spades)
How are dummy points counted?
To dummy’s HCPs add:
Void- count equals dummy’s number of trumps
Singleton- 3
Doubleton- 1
What do you need to make a 3 level raise to Overcaller’s 1 level bid?
0-6 dummy points and 4+ card support
What do you need to make a 4 level raise to Overcaller’s 1 level bid?
0-13 dummy points and 5+ card support
