How do I set up remarketing in GA?
Admin > Tracking info > data collection
then set remarketing and Advertising Reporting Features to on, you will then have to link your Google Ads manager and Double Click Campaign Manager to GA
Who can you target with remarketing?
You can target those who have clicked on a certain website page or clicked a video and much more.
How do you set up an audience?
Admin > Audience definitions > Audiences and then new audience
You can define your audience based on a pre-configured list to speed up the process. You can hover over this list to see who is included in the audience.
If you want to set up a more customised audience, you can click the import segment option. This interface is very much like the custom segment builder.
How will audiences populate?
Your audiences will populate in the Google Ads or Double Click manager accounts that you linked
How are my audiences deemed suitable for Display Remarketing?
If your audiences are eligible for search remarketing, then they will also be eligible for display
How many users must a search remarketing audience have before it can be used?
It must have 1000 users before it can be used.
Note that audiences that include Google Display Demographic dimensions age, gender and interests are not eligible for search remarketing
What is dynamic remarketing?
It enables you to target based on topics or products your users previously viewed on-site, related and top performing products and purchase histories and demographics
How does dynamic remarketing work?
For example, the Google Merchandise Store can collect product IDs from the merchandise that users viewed on their website and later advertise those same products to the same users to bring them back to the store website to make a purchase
How do you set up dynamic remarketing?
You’ll need to link Google Ads and Double Click accounts as was the case before with normal remarketing. Merchant centre account also needs to be linked to Google Ads

What is the next step after setting up your dynamic remarketing vertical attributes?
Once you know the vertical attributes you need to use you can set up your custom dimensions using each vertical attribute as the name of each dimension, this is how Google Analytics will know what is being stored in the custom dimension.
When you save your custom dimensions, Google Analytics will provide you with tracking codes to place on the pages where your products appear
However, you’ll also need to create some additional code, to pass information like product ID, page type and total value.
Once you added the code to your website pages, you can create your dynamic remarketing audiences using the custom dimensions you’ve defined. These audiences can include
- general users who viewed your homepage or any category or product pages
- Users who viewed search result page on your website
- Users who viewed product lists or detail pages
- Users who abandoned their shopping carts
- Users who previously converted
