Indications
A
Two B/P measured 5 mins apart with a diastolic BP greater than 120 or a map greater than 130, associated with any of the following: nausea/vomiting, headache, or visual disturbances.

Treatment
A
Consider pain management for head
Contact med control for Labetalol 10mg IV over 10 mins
reassess vital signs, if after 10 mins B/P meets above criteria contact med control for a repeat does of Labetalol 10-20mg IV over 10mins

A
Withhold labetalol for CHF, any heart block, bradycardia, suspected cocaine abuse, pt. in cardiogenic shock, CVA, or asthmatics
