AEIOU TIPS
- Alcohol.
- Electrolytes, encephalopathy
- infection

- stroke/seizure/subarachnoids hemorrhage/Space occupying lesion
Elderly: hypoglycemia, sepsis, stroke.
Other ages: alcohol, drugs, hypoglycemia

A
- Infectious: meningitis, encephalitis, sinusitis, brain abscess.
- Vascular: subarachnoid hemorrhage, hemorrhagic stroke, venous sinus thrombosis, cervical artery dissection
- Others: idiopathic intracranial HTN, CO poisoning, giant cell arteritis.
- More: migraine, tension, cluster, trigeminal neuralgia, TMJ, Post-LP, post trauma.

- long QT, WPW, brugada syndrome, 2nd/3rd heart block, SA node dysfuntion. Aortic stenosis, HoCM, ACS
- Vascular:
- pulmonary embolism, carotid stenosis, AAA, orthostatic HoTN.
- Metabolic:
- hypoglycemia, hyperkalemia, anemia
- Neuro:
- seizure, bleed, vasovagal, hyperventilation, carotid sinus sensitivity.
- Pulm:
- pneumothorax.

A
- Central vertigo:
- cerebellar stroke, tumor, abscess, MS, subclavian steal.
- Peripheral vertigo:
- vestibular neuritis, BPPV, labyrinthitis, migraine.
- Lightheaded:
- anemia, low Cardiac output, bradycardia, dehydration, orthostatic HoTN, hyperviscosity syndrome.
- Ataxia:
- ethanol, hyponatremia, Normal pressure hydrocephalus, benzos, antiepileptics, aminoglycosides, neurosyphilis.

A
- Infection: sepsis, epidural abscess, encephalitis, meningitis, botulism
- Cardiac: arrhythmia, ACS, bradycardia, CHF.
- Metabolic: hypoglycemia, hyperkalemia, hyponatremia, hypothyroidism.
- Neuro: stroke, subdural, myasthenia gravis, GBS, MS, polymyalgia rheumatica.
- MSK: muscular dystrophy, poly/dermatomyositis.
- Heme: anemia, leukemia.
- Toxins: organophosphate poison, CCB, Bblock
- GBS-CSF findings= high protein, normal WBC.

A
- Metabolic: glucose, Na, hypocalcemia, uremia, thyrotoxicosis, hepatic encephalopathy.
- Medications: antispasmodics, anticholingergics, antipsychotics, TCA, bupropion, lithium, clozapine, lidocaine.
- EtOH withdrawal, stimulants
- Infection: encephalitis, meningitis, neurocysticercosis
- Structure: intracranial hem, subarachnoid hem, hydrocephalus. Epilepsy, eclampsia, hypoxia.
- Cardiac dysrhythm, tetanus, malingering, cataplexy.

- Neuro: intracranial bleed/ tumor.
- Cardiac: MI
- GI: gastroenteritis, hepatitis, esophageal obstruction, achalasia, gastroparesis, zenker diverticulum.
- GU: UTI.
- Endo: DKA, Adrenal insufficiency, thyroid dz.
- Drugs: CO, tylenol overdose, aspirin, opioid use/withdrawal, EtOH, digoxin toxicity.
- Psych: depression, bulemia, anorexia
- Preg: nausea/vomiting of pregnancy. Molar pregnancy, hyperemesis gravidarum.
