Adrenergics Flashcards
How is epinephrine used in anaphylactic shock?
alpha1- vasoconstriction, beta-2 bronchodilation, beta 2 decrease histamine release from mast cells
what are 5 approaches in treating shock?
Volume, NE, Isoproterenol
Dopamine, alpha-blockers
What are some cautions with alpha-agonists?
Localized aischemia may occur at infusion site
avoid extravasation
gradually decrease infusion
Cardiac stimulation can be achieved with beta 1 activation. In what diseases would this method be used?
CHF
AV BLOCK
CARDIAC ARREST
What drugs can achieve beta-1 activation?
epinephrine (B1, B2 + a)
Isoproterenol (B1 + B2)
Dobutamine (b1 selective)
Glaucoma treated with ?
mostly beta blockers but also alpha agonists
