Adrenaline Flashcards
Adrenaline Indications.
Cardiac arrest,
Pri arrest,
Server asthma,
Server bradycardia
Anaphylaxis
Topical for bleeding wounds,
Server stridor
Adrenaline Mechanism
- Stimulates alpha (heart) and beta (lungs) receptors.
Alpha receptor binding causes smooth muscle contraction, Vasoconstriction. Furthermore, increases in inotropy (cardiac contraction), increase in heart rate and increase in condition of electrical impulses to the heart.
Beta simulation cause smooth muscle relaxation, skeletal muscle vasodilation, bronchodilation and stabilising mast cell membrane reducing histamine response.
Adrenaline Dosages.
IM: asthma + anaphylaxis. 0.5mg
IV: Cardiac arrest 1mg
Inotrop support: 50mcg (0.5ml)
Infusion: 1mg - 1L fluid start 2 drop min
Topical and nasel see guidelines
