Q

Where does aldosterone work?

A

Distal convoluted tubule –> Na/K pumps –> Na reabsorption and K and H secretion

13
Q

Why do you get hyperglycemic in stress situations?

A

ACTH secreted by anterior pituitary –> stimulates release of glucocorticoids –> inhibits glucose use in peripheral tissues

16
Q

Primary hypoaldosteronism

A

usually because of adrenal destruction/atrophy

17
Q

Secondary hypoaldosteronism

A

usually from malfunction of HPA axis from iatrogenic administration

18
Q

Cushing syndrome

A

TOO MUCH cortisol/glucocorticoids
- hypokalemia and metabolic alkalosis w/ volume overload

*all the connective tissue stuff and extra weight
