3. IV admin secondary set (extender hook)
4. Label for mini bag

6. Syringe for transfer of med to mini bag
7. Garbage can
8. Sharps container

Pre-Med Admin: MAR > Order

Answer 2

1. Verify following:
   - Client name
   - Name of med
   - Dosage
   - Route
   - Time
   - Allergies

Pre-Med Admin: Checks

Answer 3

1. Expiry date on med vial
2. Expiry date on mini bag

Question 4

Pre-Med Admin: Infusion Rate

Answer 4

1. Basic calculation > Rate = Desired dose / Have on hand*Quantity
2. IV infusion calculations (kilo/min)
   IV infusion rate (ml/hr) = V/T

Drops per min = V(ml)/time (min)* Drop factor (gtt/ml)

Prepare Med: Label

1. Prepare with following:
   - Name
   - Dose
   - Client
   - Date
   - Time
   * Do not apply until med is added into mini bag

Question 6

Prepare Med: Med > Mini Bag

Answer 6

1. Correct dose from vial (alcohol before) to mini bag (alcohol before)
2. Dispose of sharp into sharp container
3. Gently agitate mini bag
4. Label to mini bag but not over printing of bag
5. Dispose of all garbage

Pre-Administer Mini Bag

1. Bring mini bag, secondary set, and alcohol swabs to bedside
2. Hang mini bag on IV pole
3. Add extender hook and add original IV to that (so its lower)
4. Remove secondary tubing from package
5. CLOSE regulator clamp

Administer Mini Bag

Answer 8

1. Swab port of mini bag
2. Spike secondary set into mini bag
3. PRIME secondary set (bring liquid to bottom & close clamp)
4. Swab port closest to original IV
5. Connect secondary to primary
6. OPEN clamp on secondary fully and adjust flow clamp to achieve drops per min
