Defining clauses are
not separated by commas and identify the antecedent from a group and add important info
Mom-Defining
Put between commas and add unnecessary information
The most common relative pronoun that refers to people and things
Lo que: that, which, who whom
Refers to a person or group and agrees in number with its antecedent
Quien or quienes
El/la/lo que, Los/las que
Use instead of que or Quien, can only be used in a defining clause if a preposition is present
El/la/ cual, Los/las cuales
Follows the same rules as lo que but it is used mainly in formal speech
Cuyo
Whose; refers to people or things, it is always used with a noun, and agrees in gender and number to what it is referring
What relative pronoun do you use after A, DE, EN, or CON?
If it is referring to something that is not a person use que, if it is not that use el/la que, Los/las que, el/la cual, los/las cuales. If it is referring to a person use quien or an article + que or cual.
When do use a definite article with que?
After all preposition except A, DE, EN, CON
When can prepositions be omitted?
If it matches the one before the antecedent
