1) Methylphenidate (Concerta, Daytrana patch, Ritalin)
2) Lisdexamphetamine (Vyvanse)

Intuniv (Guanfacine XR)
Kapvay (Clonidine XR)
What are the Stimulants?
‘Phenidates’ and ‘Amphetamines’
1) Methylphenidate
2) Dexmethylphenidate
3) Amphetamine/dextroamphetamine (mixed salts) Adderral
4) Dextroamphetamine
5) Lisdexamfetamine
6) Methamphetamine
What are the non-Stimulants?
1) Atomoxetine (Straterra)
2) Clonidine (alpha 2 agonist) (Kapvay)
3) Guanfacine (alpha 2 agonist) (Intuniv)
-Clonidine and Guanfacine are both sedating. These are both XR.

How do Amphetamines work?
Accentuate release and block reuptake of Dopamine and Norepinephrine in presynaptic neurons
What are the side effects of Stimulants?
Nausea, insomnia, headache, irritability, blurry vision, dry mouth
*We always start low and titrate up because of the nausea and BP and HR effects.
*Monitor weight and height for children since they loose appetite with stimulants.
