ADF Tracking Flashcards
The two most important instruments necessary for tracking to an NDB are:
ADF and heading indicator.
If you are tracking inbound to an NDB on a specific bearing with a cross wind from the left:
You will have to correct for drift by turning left into the wind.
Tracking outbound from an NDB with a crosswind from the right:
Both the ADF needle and the heading are to the right.
Tracking to an NDB without using wind correction:
Both of the other two answers are correct.
There are two basic kinds of NDB approaches
One NDB located on the airport and one with the beacon away from the airport.
If the beacon is not located on the airport, the critical part of the approach is:
racking precisely away from the station on final.
When making an NDB approach, the most important operation:
Is to set the heading indicator precisely to the magnetic compass.
