What is a ROSO?
A requirement to serve for a stipulated period prior to being permitted to leave the Defence Force.
Avenues of entry which involve a lengthy course of study or training, such as the Undergraduate Scheme or ADFA, attract a ROSO.
What does DFDA stand for?
Defence Force Discipline Act
What does the DFDA mean?
- ADF personnel are subject to military law, with its own judicial arrangements (Military Courts) and unique punishments, in addition to normal civilian law
- An example is how defence personnel are legally bound to follow all lawful commands which may be given at any time and which could involve considerable risk to life
What does IMPS stand for?
Initial Minimum Period of Service
What does IMPS mean?
- appointed for an Initial Minimum Period of Service
- subsequent periods of service may be offered
What is your Initial Minimum Period of Service (IMPS)?
11.5 years
What annual leave are you entitled to?
- 20 working days or four weeks is credited annually for 12 months of service.
- There are many other types of special purpose leave that may be granted in certain circumstances or used to compensate for arduous, special or prolonged duty
How does long service leave work?
Long Service Leave accrues at a rate of nine days per year of service and may be taken after 10 years of service.
