On SOLO sorties, when may you unstrap after flight?
After the aircraft has been parked and shutdown in accordance with the checklist.
When conducting SOLO starts what should be done with the Maintainence Release?
It should be left on the aircraft dash for the instructor to check after boarding.
When may students conduct SOLO starts?
Once they have successfully completed GF11 (first solo), provided their PT-51s have been correctly annotated.
What are the SOLO restrictions for:
Emergencies?
Solo students encountering an emergency or unserviceability are to carry out the appropiate initial actions. When the aircraft is safely under control and if time permits, students are to advise the DI. Students are to then return immediately.
What are the SOLO restrictions for:
Practice Emergencies?
Students are not to simulate emergencies. However, students may initiate PFLs IAW SATG.
What are SOLO privilages?
Flying sequences that may be conducted solo, only after the student has performed the sequence dual to a satisfactory standard and is annotated as “certified safe solo” on the student privileges sheet in the PT-51.
What must you be able to do before your first solo? (In relation to SI (OPS))
- Be able to fly a safe normal circuit, overshoot from base and final approach, and carry out full stop landings.
- Have successfully completed the pre-solo quiz
- Have a thorough knowledge of the following emergency procedures:
a) Start emergencies
b) Engine Failure After TakeOff (EFATO)
c) Flapless Landing
d) Radio Failure
Are solo students permitted to practice EFATOs?
