How are adenoviruses normally transmitted?
Through the respiratory tract - inhalation.
Direct inoculation:
- Touching the eye with a contaminated hand.
- Through water in swimming pools with infected people.
Explain the common symptoms.
Fever.
Cough.
Nasal congestion.
Sore throat.
Conjunctivitis and the associated symptoms are common.
Treatments for adenovirus.
Supportive only, there are no known anti-adenovirus treatments.
Paracetamol, rest and retain hydration.
How can you identify adenoviruses?
ELISA - detect the viral agents from the stool.
