What can be done to prevent exercise-related hypoglycemia
- insulin regimen and CHO intake changes
- short sprints
- perform resistance training before aerobics in the same session
- activity timing
How to mitigate the risk of nocturnal hypoglycemia following physical activity?
- reduce basal insulin dose
- lower-intensity aerobic cool down
- avoid exercising with hyperglycemia and elevated blood ketones
What should be done with meds other than insulins prior to physical exercise?
- some can increase risks of exercise-related hypoglycemia
- adjust doses as necessary
