Q
Acute urinary retention and its management
A
- Acute urinary retention may occur in patients with longstanding symptoms of bladder outlet obstruction
- Often precipitated by overfilling of the bladder, faecal loading or urinary tract infection.
- diagnosis is not usually difficult—the patient in retention is acutely distressed with abdominal or perineal pain and a readily palpable bladder
